Province launches new grant for businesses affected by COVID-19

The province of Manitoba says it is offering up $250 million to protect Manitoba businesses hit hard by COVID-19.

The Manitoba Bridge Grant will provide $5,000 up front to small to mid-size businesses and non-profits that are affected by restrictions and are forced to cease operations or close their publicly accessible physical locations by Manitoba public health orders in effect on Nov. 12, 2020.

The list of affected businesses includes restaurants, bars, casinos, museums and galleries, theatres and concert halls as well as charities or not-for-profit organizations.

If your business qualifies, the province says the grant can be extended to another $5,000 if the restrictions are still in place on Jan. 1, 2021.

Businesses can apply for the Manitoba Bridge Grant starting on Monday, Nov. 16, 2020 through www.manitoba.ca/supportsforbusiness.

The deadline for applications is Dec. 15.
