Manitoba extending deadline for back-to-work wage subsidy

The Manitoba Government is extending a program that helps Manitoban businesses and non-profit organizations rehire employees who were laid off because of COVID-19.

According to a CBC News article written by Nicholas Frew, the program, in which companies that qualify for the wage subsidy can rehire staff, has been extended until Dec. 31, 2020.

Companies can qualify for up to $100,000 for 20 employees – $5,000 per employee hired since July 16. Businesses can also rehire students who were hired through Manitoba’s summer student recovery jobs program, the Canada Summer Jobs program or the Green Team Program.

Applications for the back-to-work wage subsidy are due on Dec. 1.
