The Federal Government’s Canadian Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) program ran out on Oct. 3, but Canadians who are out of work because of COVID-19 still have an option to receive $2,000 per month while they are unemployed.

Changes to EI/CERB benefits are coming into effect in late September, according to a CBC News article written by Richa Syal.
The federal government recently extended CERB to Sept. 27, 2020, and says all those who received it through Service Canada will be automatically transitioned to EI benefits.
Those who receive CERB through the Canada Revenue Agency will have to apply for EI through Service Canada.
Among other changes reported by Syal, people who are not eligible for EI but are in need of other income support can apply for the following benefits in October:
