An app created by the Federal Government that helps trace possible COVID-19 exposures is now available in Manitoba.
The COVID Alert app uses Bluetooth to exchange random codes with nearby phones that also have the app. Every day it checks a list of random codes from people who tell the app they tested positive. It then alerts others who have been near one of those location in the past 14 days.
The app is available in seven provinces right now, including:
- Manitoba
- New Brunswick
- Newfoundland and Labrador
- Nova Scotia
- Ontario
- Prince Edward Island
- Quebec
- Saskatchewan
The Federal Government says COVID Alert does not use GPS or track your location, and doesn’t collect other information such as names and addresses, phone contacts, or health information.
COVID Alert is available for download on the Apple Store and Google Play. Click here for more information.
