CBC Manitoba is reporting some local businesses are anxious in the face of possible new restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

In the article, written by Jill Coubrough<\/a>, chief provincial public health officer Dr. Brent Roussin says Manitoba may tighten restrictions in the midst of daily triple-digit COVID-19 cases and a rising test positivity rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roussin also says the B117 variant is a concern, and many new cases are tied to private and faith-based events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The province is considering clamping down on private gatherings and indoor activities, as well as imposing an outdoor mask mandate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The article cites multiple business owners who are afraid a tightening of restrictions could lead to severe profit and job losses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Roussin said further details on restrictions will come out soon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whether or not those new restrictions will affect businesses remains to be seen, but some people are concerned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Loren Remillard, president of the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce, said in the article the province should not restrict businesses because they’re not at fault for rising case numbers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He says if it must then it needs to provide financial support to help businesses avoid laying off staff or closing altogether.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
