{"id":352,"date":"2020-08-27T18:31:06","date_gmt":"2020-08-27T18:31:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/edpwinnipeg.com\/?post_type=news&#038;p=352"},"modified":"2020-08-27T18:31:06","modified_gmt":"2020-08-27T18:31:06","slug":"new-information-on-ei-cerb-benefits","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/edpwinnipeg.com\/?news=new-information-on-ei-cerb-benefits","title":{"rendered":"New information on EI\/CERB Benefits"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Changes to EI\/CERB benefits are coming into effect in late September, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/cerb-ei-covid-benefits-1.5695448\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CBC News article written by Richa Syal.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The federal government recently extended CERB to Sept. 27, 2020, and says all those who received it through Service Canada will be automatically transitioned to EI benefits.<\/p>\n<p>Those who receive CERB through the Canada Revenue Agency will have to apply for EI through Service Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Among other changes reported by Syal, people who are not eligible for EI but are in need of other income support can apply for the following benefits in October:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Canada Recovery Benefit<\/strong> &#8211; $400 a week for up to 26 weeks for workers who are self-employed and can&#8217;t return to work<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Canada Recovery Sickness Benefit<\/strong> &#8211; $500 per week for up to two weeks for workers who are ill or must self-isolate due to COVID-19<\/li>\n<li><strong>The Canada Recovery Caregiving Benefit<\/strong> &#8211; $500 per week for up to 26 weeks for people unable to work because they care for a child under 12 or have a child whose school or other day program facility is closed due to COVID-19<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/cerb-ei-covid-benefits-1.5695448\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Read the full article<\/a> for more information and <a href=\"https:\/\/edpwinnipeg.com\/?page_id=13\">stay tuned to our blog<\/a> for more information on COVID-19 and Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Program &#8211; Winnipeg news.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Changes to EI\/CERB benefits are coming into effect in late September, according to a CBC News article written by Richa Syal.
